Modern defense systems must seize every capability across logistics and operational planning to ensure battlefield dominance. Designated as a critical technology by the U.S. Department of War, quantum technologies represent the next frontier in this domain.

Through a series of detailed case studies, we outline how embracing quantum technology now can deliver operational resilience, strengthened defense posture, and tactical overmatch for the warfighter.

Each application provides estimated timelines for quantum advantage, projected to arrive between 2027 and 2029 in alignment with published hardware roadmaps:

Convoy routing: Build logistics solutions that deliver materiel on time and in order while minimizing risk and showing resilience against disruption.

Strategic airlift: Efficiently supply a wide range of frontline commands with materiel specific to their operational needs over multiple domains and theatres globally.

Defense production resilience: Reinvigorate defense production for speed and resilience against enemy disruption.

Missile defense and counter-UAS: Enable effective defensive systems for the Golden Dome and to protect forward-deployed assets in dynamic battlefields.
