Showcasing the accessibility of quantum computing at TiEcon 2025

Our product, research, and BD teams recently attended TiEcon 2025 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California. This premier technology and entrepreneurship conference, organized by TiE Silicon Valley, centered around the theme “AiVerse,” emphasizing the transformative potential of applied artificial intelligence across various industries and technology domains.
We had the honor of hosting the only quantum computing workshop at the conference! The intersection of quantum computing and AI is one of the most exciting opportunities of the century and we often hear exciting stories about new forms of quantum-powered AI in the popular press.
At Q-CTRL we operate right at this intersection, and we take a unique approach. By focusing on AI-for-quantum we’re accelerating the industry and empowering the end users interested in quantum-for-AI.
Our workshop, Hello Quantum World!, introduced participants to quantum computing. Participants were invited to learn the fundamentals with our edtech product, Black Opal, and execute their first quantum algorithm with our performance-management product, Fire Opal. Our team was truly humbled by the curiosity and eagerness of everyone in the room to get hands-on with quantum technology! A special shout out to Anita Manwani, Hrishikesh Sathawane, Ajay Manglani, and the organizing team for supporting this workshop.

Exploring the intersection between AI and quantum computing
The emerging theme of Quantum and AI reveals a mutually beneficial relationship, with each technology enhancing the other.
Today, the AI we have pioneered and commercialized at Q-CTRL plays a crucial role in advancing quantum computing by improving system design, optimizing circuit compilation and postprocessing, and enhancing device control and performance. These AI-driven innovations help make quantum computers more reliable and scalable.
In the future, quantum computers are expected to significantly boost AI capabilities. They could enable more efficient encoding of large datasets, accelerate model training, and support the development of more advanced machine learning models. This synergy between Quantum and AI is poised to drive transformative progress across both domains, and our AI-for-quantum technology is essential to making this application real.
Understanding quantum algorithms and the potential impacts
During the workshop, we covered many of the most promising short and long-term applications of quantum computers that are likely to be transformational.
For example, quantum computers enable accurate modelling of the quantum properties of molecules and compounds directly relevant to modern materials science and quantum chemistry. This would impact several important real-world applications, such as faster drug discovery, developing materials for batteries and solar cells, industrial catalysis, and nitrogen fixing. Fire Opal supports these problems natively, with custom-built functionality.
Quantum computers can also revolutionize the field of operational optimization, allowing a massive reduction of inefficiencies in supply chains, logistics pipelines, and scheduling. Discover how we’re helping industry leaders like Airbus and BMW, and the Australian Army achieve their transport and logistics optimization goals!
Finally, we explored the potential impact of quantum computers on the future of cybersecurity and the opportunities they provide us to better protect our information.
Making quantum computing accessible anytime, anywhere, on any device
During the workshop, we saw firsthand how Q-CTRL’s tools are breaking barriers to quantum adoption. Participants began hands-on activities with Black Opal, our interactive education platform. Engagement was exceptional, with many choosing to join from mobile devices – proof that when quantum education is built with intuitive UX and device-responsive design, anyone can gain real understanding.

But the real magic happened when participants seamlessly shifted to coding exercises with Fire Opal, our performance-management software for quantum computers. Fire Opal not only improves quantum computer accuracy, but it also abstracts all of the hardware so users can execute complex algorithms with very simple commands.
Users followed our Getting Started guide to run the Bernstein-Vazirani algorithm via Google Colab. With zero configuration, participants executed the algorithm directly from the cloud – fast, simple, seamless, even while some continued on their mobile devices – to achieve accurate results!
That’s right - participants ran real quantum algorithms on real quantum computers and got the correct answers entirely on their mobile phones.
This experience reaffirmed an important principle we have held since the beginning: quantum technology can be truly accessible when we prioritize interface design, user experience, and cloud-enabled tools. With the right platforms and integrations, quantum isn't just confined to researchers — it can be for everyone, everywhere. In fact, this is the only way for enterprise market adoption, through frictionless, accessible experiences that meet users where they are.
